The latest gossip on the HOTTEST teas...

Hot teas offer numerous health benefits, are good for your sanity, and have been around for THOUSANDS of years. Like anything that goes in your mouth, know the source and make sure it is clean! With a ton of flavors out there, here are some of my favorites. Find a local sustainably sourced tea shop and do a taste-test to find your new fav!
GREEN TEAS

Green tea has been shown to improve brain health and focus, help increase metabolism, contains polyphenols (brain function) and catechins (antioxidants) and has been shown to promote gut and skin health as well as assisting in weight management.
Green tea variants include Matcha, Sencha, Gyokuro, Gunpowder, and more, each with their own specific health benefits, growth patterns, and specific harvesting techniques.
Try green tea alone after awakening or before bedtime.
BLACK TEAS

Black tea is high in flavonoids, which have been shown to reduce blood pressure and the risk of strokes, and have high antioxidant properties.
With more than 20 types of black teas, variants include your every-day iced teas, Darjeeling, Ceylon (a personal favorite), Irish Breakfast, English Breakfast, and Earl Grey. Ever had a London Fog?? You'll thank me for this =)
CHAMOMILE TEA

Chamomile tea has a light, clean, floral taste... they look like daisies and taste as imagined. This relaxing tea has been shown to help control the glycemic index (GI) and aid in reducing chronic inflammation
This beauty is great for your fav cozy blanket and book time! Cuddle up!
PEPPERMINT TEA

While Peppermint tea is not recommended for those with GI issues such as GERD, it has been shown to aid in digestion and lessen cases of generalized nausea. It also can be tied to relief of mild respiratory issues, headaches, and can improve stress management.
For a clean and fresh break, steep a cup!!
GINGER TEA

Ginger tea can help with digestive issues, nausea and morning sickness, and even help fight inflammation when had daily.
More than 4 grams per day can interact with some medications, so keep it under 4 cups!
OOLONG TEA

Oolong is a very beneficial tea, in that it has been shown to help increase metabolism and aid in digestion, while lowering LDL ("bad" cholesterol) and lessening eczema skin issues.
For those sensitive to caffeine, be warned Oolong is a natural source.
For those looking for a healthy tea with a little pick-me-up, drink away!
JASMINE TEA

Jasmine tea is created by locals hand-picking jasmine buds and placing them with green or black tea leaves in scenting houses, where the leaves will absorb the delicate scent over time.
Jasmine teas can lower LDL, lower your heart rate (increase a relaxed state), and contain antioxidants which can ease the aging process while decreasing disease rates. Green tea leaves are most commonly used, so enjoy all of those benefits as well!
Regardless of which tea you choose, it is wonderful to have one first thing after waking up before the rest of the world is moving around. Sit outside with nature, journal, read...just take some time for yourself in the moment. Hot teas have been around for thousands of years and are still a staple in most cultures, just not so much here in the US where disease and obesity and running in that rat-race are so prevalent. Slow things down, take care of yourself, and enjoy!
